Product Overview:
RedHawk Energy Systems, LLC offers a range of packaged Hybrid Power Systems for critical remote site and backup power requirements. In these systems, different power generation and storage units are combined to complement each other and meet the energy demands of the application.
Photovoltaic (Solar) Power System or Wind & Fuel Cell - Model HPS-PF
This type of hybrid system is utilized in remote site applications to increase overall system availability in the event of unfavorable weather conditions or peak load conditions. An energy storage system (batteries) can also be part of this hybrid power system to bridge the startup time (few seconds to several minutes) of a fuel cell. The PV (solar) power system powers the load when weather conditions are favorable (sunny) and when weather conditions are less than favorable (stormy) the fuel cell powers up to provide the adequate power to charge the batteries and support the load. As a battery charger, the fuel cell system provides charging capability in a backup mode when the primary power (solar or wind, etc.) is unavailable. The fuel cell system continuously monitors the battery voltage and automatically starts and stops as needed to keep the batteries charged and healthy to support the load. The contribution of the PV (solar) or wind generator is that it helps reduce the fueling needs/costs of a fuel cell-only system.
